ACE Cyber Leadership Summer 2025 Internship Opportunity

The Advanced Course in Engineering (ACE), a cyber leadership summer internship run by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), is an 11 week, competitively-paid internship run through the Air Force Research Lab in Rome, NY.

ACE’s vision is to forge a cadre of cyber warriors and leaders of consequence.

At ACE, you:

  • Work on cutting-edge research projects for Air Force and DoD customers
  • Participate in weekly cyber lectures to learn topics such as malware reverse-engineering, red-teaming skills, and covert channels
  • Apply your cyber knowledge from the lecture in weekly small-group challenge problems
  • Participate in weekly leadership case study seminars on topics such as Apollo-13, the Black Hawk shoot down, and the Cuban Missile Crisis
  • Conduct cyber-warfare operations as part of a fictional nation in a contested cyber/kinetic battlefield with a simulated network, simulated drones, and simulated weapon systems.

ACE accepts applications from civilian undergraduates, ROTC cadets, and international military members. The ACE program lasts 11 weeks, running May 27th, 2025 to August 8th, 2025. During this period interns are expected to be on-location in Rome, NY. The ACE program is currently accepting applications until 11:59pm on December 8th. Although the ACE program is operated by the Air Force Research Laboratory, the program does not require any sort of service commitment upon completion.
